Linked Data and Ontologies for Semantic Interoperability

چکیده
Abstract The purpose of Linked Data and ontologies is to achieve semantic interoperability across different systems agents. As a concrete implementation, Digital Construction Ontologies (DiCon) are meant provide efficient information sharing utilization between the tools in BIM4EEB toolkit. This section explains motivations, design principles, organization DiCon ontologies.

Exploring ontologies for semantic interoperability of data in emergency response
Emergency response is a complex activity involving many actors and heterogeneous spatial data. Two of the major challenges are the integration and extraction of these data and their transmission to emergency management actors. Although significant progress has been made regarding the systemic and syntactic heterogeneity of data in this context, semantic heterogeneity remains insufficiently addr...
متن کاملSemantic Interoperability by Aligning Ontologies
A fundamental premise of the semantic web is that a level of interoperability is guaranteed among applications running in an open environment. By the use of ontologies applications are able to share information and exchange meaningful data. In this context ontology alignment is paramount to assure communication among applications. In this paper we propose an ontology alignment strategy based in...
متن کاملSemantic Interoperability Using Multiple Ontologies
There are now robust technical solutions to interoperate geographic information in a syntactic and schematic sense. But, problem with different meaning of geo-data from distributed geo-information sources still exists. The use of ontologies in semantic translation is a viable approach to overcome the problem of semantic heterogeneity. Also, from the technological point of view, mediator-based s...
متن کاملContextual Alignment of Ontologies for Semantic Interoperability
Virtually all of the existing approaches to ontology integration assume that each of the individual ontologies (and the integrated ontology) corresponds to a single set of semantics at a given time. We first claim that this single integrated view assumption is unnecessarily restrictive, and defend the view that ontologies can simultaneously accommodate multiple integrated views provided the acc...
متن کاملApproaches for semantic interoperability between domain ontologies
Domain ontologies and knowledge-based systems have become very important in the agent and semantic web communities. As their use has increased, providing means of resolving semantic differences has also become very important. In this paper we survey the approaches that have been proposed for providing interoperability among domain ontologies. We also discuss some key issues that still need to b...
